I deleted an email that I need, is there any way to get it back?

When an email message is deleted in FirstClass, it isn't permanently removed immediately. When a message or folder is deleted, it is flagged as 'trash' and hidden within your FirstClass mailbox. It is not actually removed until 2 AM two days later. For example, if you delete an email at 1 PM on Wednesday, it will not be fully removed until 2 AM Friday morning.


If you need to recover a message that you deleted less than two days ago, you can recover it by following thse steps:

  1. In FirstClass, open your Mailbox.
  2. Under the View menu, choose 'View Deleted Items'. It's in the middle of the menu.
  3. All of your deleted emails will re-appear, with little trash can icons next to them.
  4. Select the message you want to recover. If you need to recover multiple messages, select multiple messages via the shift (for consecutive) and command keys (non-consecutive).
  5. Under the File menu, choose 'Undelete'.
  6. When you are done, go to the View menu and choose 'Hide Deleted Items'.

If you need to recover email that was deleted more than two days ago: Contact New Lab and ask about restoring email from a backup. You will need to describe, as accurately as possible, the most recent date you still have the email message.
